YOGA FAQ

What yoga classes are offered and what are their differences?

We are offering the following classes ranging form 45 to 90 minutes depending on time and day:

Vinyasa:
This class is a flow of postures linking with breath to seamlessly move from one pose to another. Each class is unique so you’ll never find 2 alike and moves faster compared to other yoga practices. It is usually referred to as a yoga practice of one breath, one movement.

Hatha:
This class is similar to Vinyasa, but the flow is not as fast. Postures are held longer, which allows the body to stretch a little bit more in the same posture. Hatha refers to the physical practice or asanas (postures).

Slow Flow:
A more meditative movement much slower than vinyasa and with not as many postures. The focus is keeping the mind and body calm allowing time to pause in each posture for a few rounds of breath.

Yoga for Athletes:
A yoga practice that works on balance, flexibility, agility, endurance, core and overall strength to help prevent injury and aid in recovery. This class is also good for anyone wanting more of an overall movement to strengthen their yoga practice. This class will always have a different focus each week. Limited to 12 students.

Conditioning to Fly:
A very focused class on working towards or improving handstands, arm balances, and headstands. This class will emphasize on tools to condition the body to perform a “fly” whatever it may be. Each week will give you a chance to get stronger and really understand your body to get into the pose, being safe and preventing injuries. Limited to 12 students.

Happy Hour Friday:
Our take to starting the weekend if you choose to do something else than a typical Happy Hour. This could be a combined yoga and abstract art class where you will move the body for 30 minutes and be guided to do abstract art for the next 30 minutes (materials included). Other “happy hour” classes might be a music driven yoga practice, i.e. flowing to the tune of 80’s music as an example. More lively, more energetic at time and perhaps having sips at the end of the class.

Yoga Nidra:
Yoga Nidra will be a portion of our Restorative and Yoga Nidra class on Sunday evenings. Yoga Nidra is a sate of completely relaxing the body where you become aware of the inner work by following a set of instructions guided by the yoga instructor.

Why are the single class prices different?

Our classes range from 45 minutes to 60, 75 and 90 minutes. The 75 and 90 minutes classes are usually offered as a workshop, but for us, we offer it as a regular class so you continue to develop what you are working on. These classes are limited to 12 so that the instructor can attend to you. For the 90 min and Friday night special classes we provide materials, offer essential oils, or serve tea, etc.

What if I can't do everything in the class? I haven't done yoga for a while or have never done yoga?

One of the best things about yoga is that there is not one way of doing it. There are several modifications offered so that you can make the practice your own. Your instructor will always offer another variation of a pose. It’s always helpful for the instructors to let them know if you haven’t done yoga or never done it. If it will make you comfortable, we recommend first taking a few of the beginners classes offered once a week. But this is really not necessary. Most classes are all levels, but please take the time to review the description of the class so you know what to sign up for. We’re also here to assist you to make sure you take the right class.

How is DRIFT different from the other yoga studios?

DRIFT is a reserve only mat studio where everything is provided and set up for you. We use 6 mm Manduka mats for your comfort and Manduka props. Our studio has elevated floor levels for the last 2 rows and the instructor has a platform so everyone is able to see the instructor while showing the poses. Our classes also vary daily, for example, if you like to practice at 7:00 a.m. everyday - we’ve scheduled those classes where you will get a balance from a slow flow to power vinyasa, and even give you a chance to practice without music so you can fully be in tune to the natural everyday sounds. In planning our classes, we really put our clients first - we have put together 45 min-classes during the week so that you can fit it in your busy schedule, as well as 60 - 90 min classes when you have more time. We also offer classes that are normally offered as workshops as one of our regular classes.

Juice Bar FAQs

Why are your juices not made individually?

To keep the taste, texture and amount per container consistent we make our juices and alternative milks and milk blends in small batches several times through the day on-site. We weigh our ingredients and measure how much goes in each of the drinks. Thus the taste is consistent. We also don’t add ice, which dilutes the juice.

If I purchased your juice and alternative milk, how long does it last?

Without refrigeration it can last up to 3 hours, otherwise it needs to be refrigerated and can last up to 4 days. Whether the juice or alternative milk is sealed or not, we recommend only keeping them refrigerated up to 4 days.

Can I bring back the glass containers for a discount?

At this time we are not equipped to to do this, however we are working on a program to recycle and or reuse the bottles on site in the future. For now, please recycle or reuse. They make great spice bottles or storage for small items such as hair ties or bobby pins.

Why do you use bottles instead of plastic cups and plastic bottles?

Glass keeps the drinks tasting fresh and consistent. But not only that, we are conscious about the environment and glass to us has more environmental values being that it is recyclable and reusable. Lastly, we haven’t found plastic eco-friendly containers that we like as of yet.

Why do you have a limited selection?

We wanted to stay focused and have consistency in our offering. These juices and alternative milks have been thought of to serve non-vegan or anyone without dietary restrictions as well. We wanted to make sure that these drinks are nutrient packed with organic ingredients.

Are all your baked good gluten free and vegan?

Yes. We will only have gluten free and vegan baked goods regularly. On an occasion we will have a guest baker and may sell vegan and not gluten free baked goods. We will highlight if we are offering non-gluten free items.

Can I order baked goods in large quantities?

Absolutely! Anything over a dozen, please order ahead so we can have it ready for you on the day of pick up.

Do you deliver?

At this time we are not in a position to do this, however we are working on it. You may place your order on line and pick up at the studio on the time you need it.
