The Space

A stunning space for YOU, designed with YOU in mind - to breathe, move, refuel the body and mind. This is your haven away from home and work to practice yoga and enjoy organic pressed juices, alternative milks, and vegan/gluten free baked goods made daily in-house. As you walk through the space, it gives you different feel and experience. Open all through the week just for you, so come and hang with us!

YOGA: We designed this space putting our clients and partners (our yoga instructors) first. We made sure that every client has visibility of the partner during class by installing a tiered floor. The space is calming, serene, and quiet. Our non-heated yoga studio (room temperature 75 degrees) is spacious with room all around the mat for you to practice with a foot space between mats on all sides. We are a reserve your mat studio to make sure that where you will practice is truly where you are going to be comfortable, so you can be present. We’ve made it simple by providing you with everything you need for class: a Pro Manduka 6 mm Mat, props, and water. They will be ready at your reserved spot.

JUICE BAR: An organic vegan and gluten free selection of baked goods, pressed juices, alternative milks and milk blends with occasional specials made daily in-house. Our juices and alternative milks are made in small batches several times a day for consistency of taste, texture and volume, then stored and sealed in French square bottles. We never add ice so the nutrients in the juices and alternative milks stay. We have carefully put together a very tight menu with a purpose. Each recipe has been worked on for the last 3 years by the founder and owner, and throughout the process, we had you in mind. Have a taste and enjoy it at the bar or take it to-go.

YOGA STORE: It’s our DRIFT Closet where we have carefully selected some of our favorite items mostly made by women and some Made in the US or locally Made in Seattle. We have a selection of athleisure wear for men and women, apothecary, sweat-proof jewelries, home items, and our branded items. We believe in products that have purpose, support charities or give back to the community and ingredients that have never been tested on animals.

YOGA LOUNGE: Where you feel the calm as you leave the noise outside before stepping in to the yoga studio to be on your mat. Here we have some lockers, spaces to sit on, hand wash sink, drinking water faucet and right around the corner an all gender changing room and restrooms should you need it.

Behind DRIFT

This idea started 20+ years ago when the founder, Vivian started running long distance and was introduced to yoga by her trainer. She saw the results of what yoga did to her running, her body and day to day life that immediately she started dreaming of opening a yoga studio one day. The purpose, to share yoga as a form of movement of the body and make it accessible to anyone. With a career in fashion that she loved so much, but knew that wasn’t going to be forever, opening a studio had to wait 20 years. Originally from Marin County, CA Seattle became a home 11 years ago and she knew then that this would be the home of a future yoga studio. In 2017, she left her career and immediately jumped on to being a student again and getting her 200 Hr RYT Certificate from Yoga Medicine , Fascial Web training from Anatomy Trains by Tom Myers and yoga fro TBI from Love Your Brain. Since then she’s been teaching yoga and currently completing her 500 Hr with Yoga Medicine.

In the last 3 years, she’s also been busy testing some recipes for vegan and gluten free baked goods as well as alternative milks and milk blends. Vivian had some unique food allergies and realized, “I can’t just be the only one.” And so this addition to the studio was added to the plan for a juice bar that creates an experience within the space. Meaning, her vision for this juice bar was to minimize what exactly it is, so that it is not distracting to the clients when they enter the studio…after all, yoga was the main plan.

While searching for a location, she and her husband took a lot of notes as they traveled across the country and beyond on what they would experience, see, taste and hear at similar places of what DRIFT would be. Together, they put themselves as the customers and also, as an owner. And they asked themselves a lot of questions…We mean…a lot. Once a location was found, once again together they spent time in the location to observe, learn, watch and see what the people in the community were doing all through the week. With all the notes she compiled of how to make this space be of service, DRIFT was created and now we have DRIFT Yoga + Juice Bar.

Why the name DRIFT? That time Vivian was still a bit daring hanging next to the ferries on a paddle board in Larkspur, CA….as she DRIFTed away with the ferries randomly she said, “DRIFT would be a cool name for a business.” How fitting it is for a yoga and juice bar space where your mind DRIFTS as you DRIFT away from the hustle and bustle of the city into the space. And that’s how it started.
